Enmirrored Worlds (English Book)

Description

Quite similarly to the human brain, where billions of nerve cells are interconnected, at large scale also billions of living beings are interconnected, via everyday contact with each other.

Do that way maybe also self-contained feelings, dreams, and maybe even consciousness emerge at larger scales?

It will not be possible to give a conclusive answer here, but many terms like love, telepathy, precognition of the future, goddesses and gods, the collective unconscious, the world soul, oracles, homeopathy, intelligent design, and many more, would suddenly appear in a different light again and also become more amenable to science again.

Accessibly exposed step by step with many illustrations by a Swiss physicist (*1966 in Z├╝rich), with more than 30 pages about astrology, an astonishingly hard to crack nut in this world view, as well as a lot of fuel for dreaming about the world could be...

Preface

The title of this book alludes with the coinage "enmirrored" also to "enchanted", as in fairy tales or dreams, in the German edition also with "verspiegelt" to "verspielt", which means playful. In any case, the idea behind or in this book is rather banal at first or can even seem very abstract and scientifically dry. But this is quite misleading, as I hope to reveal, in a way that will hopefully be easy to follow for everyone from many daily experiences, and will thus also inspire to dream. But one thing after the other, all of that will only emerge step by step while reading. As in everything I write, it will be important for most readers not to read too much at once, but instead to take a break every now and then, so that what I wrote can really unfold. But now a bit more directly to what this book is about in the immediate sense.

People and other beings are connected to each other through everyday interaction and mutual exchange, thus exchanging information between their brains. This creates a network of even more nerve cells than in a single brain. Could that way also feelings, dreams, thoughts, and even consciousness, emerge on larger scales?

The idea of seeing several people or generally living beings in a compound as a single living being, may be new in this directness, even though this idea is indirectly mirrored in many concepts from many epochs, like for example in Jung's collective unconscious, Plato's world soul, or since primeval times in goddesses and gods. This mirrors already what this book will boil down to, namely to a great many plausible ways how the world can be seen. But it will be astonishingly difficult to say which of these ways would have to be given how much weight exactly, so that in the end still practically all world views known today would remain, but they would also no longer be as diametrically opposed to each other as often today. In that sense, this book can maybe also make a contribution to heal the diverse splits in mental worlds since Enlightenment, like into science and other fields, as for example into astronomy and astrology, a bit?

This would also suit the title of this book, which, for one thing, expresses how collective beings would come to be, namely via manifold influences from many individual beings, and, for another thing, that the manifold possible consequences of this are very hard to quantify absolutely, without further, very broadly bolstered research in the future.

Short, this book would encompass practically all widespread world views; be they scientific, religious or esoteric or home-made.

While doing this, I will also refer to a lot of traditions and ideas outside of science, but towards the end I will also list many possibilities how the world might tick from a scientific point of view, in easy to understand ways, without in the end lifting the world's veil of beauty and mystery.
